Paul Green – AKA Paolo. With over 40 years behind the funny shaped dice Paolo is a UK based player/GM who has played TTRPGs for more years than they’ve been called TTRPGs – Starting in the 80’s meant the obligatory start in D&D but our group tried a whole host of other games and systems over the next decade or so, but mainly focussing on Games Workshop’s original Judge Dredd RPG, Palladium’s Robotech, Paranoia, Call of Cthulhu, and Warhammer FRP, with the occasional Dr Who, Star Wars and Trek, or Torg thrown in for good measure. When our groups DM buggered off to warmer climes, the group merged with another and more games were introduced including Cyberpunk and Shadowrun, though a return to D&D took the lion’s share of play. This is also when Paolo first took position behind the DM screen. Since then, as the group got older the games got fewer and further between until lockdown and the discovery of Roll20. To say that meeting friends online once a week to share stories whilst doing dodgy accents was a life-saver is probably over-egging the pudding somewhat, but it was definitely therapeutic, and has rekindled the love of gaming. Paolo still regularly plays with the remnants of his original group* but seeing how much fun his group was having playing in the 2d20 Conan campaign he was running led to him joining the Denizens as a player. He has recently introduced the Denizens to another 2d20 game – Achtung! Cthulhu, and is enjoying it very much, thank you! (Though the accents aren’t getting any less dodgy!) *Disclaimer – This does not mean that he has dismembered anyone!
